Welcome to Happy Pancreas.

A place where I not only share tips for balanced blood sugars, but use my experiences to help get you at your HEALTHIEST!

Whether you are a newly diagnosed Type 1 Diabetic, or a seasoned veteran with a few (or many) years of pricks and injections, my passion is to keep your blood sugars happy & balanced!

My Story:
I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in January 2014.  I was sick—really sick for a few months actually, clueless as to what was wrong & extremely exhausted from visiting the doctor and getting no real conclusion on what was going on.

I was being treated for a UTI, bronchitis, & lost 20 LBS.

Finally, after blood work was ran and the results came back, I woke up to 3 missed calls from different doctors telling me to go to the ER— my blood sugar levels were “extremely elevated”.

I had no idea what this meant but drove myself to the ER—confused.

After two separate ER visits and an original mis-diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes (insert indifferent face here), I was officially diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes.

Denial & Google were my frenemies.

Listening to my endocrinologist share the many details of what would consist of the rest of my life was overwhelming [to say the least.]  I thought, “there is no way I have to do this forever.”

I have to prick my finger?

How many times a day?

I have to inject what? No, I am pretty sure I have something else and my body is just stressed and this won’t be forever. Maybe I am pregnant?

Flash forward 7 years and here I am now, facing the daily reality of managing this disease 24/7.

I have learned that high and low blood sugars tend to come with the territory of having a non working pancreas, but they don’t have to be a daily occurrence.

I’m here to give you the tools that will help you manage & balance your blood sugars.

I want to relieve your stress of random highs and lows by giving you simple principles to follow and implement in your day to day eating and lifestyle habits.

I have had my triumphs and setbacks with this disease and have invested a lot of time researching and simply listening to my own body in efforts to keep my mind and body feeling its best!

YOU have the power to get better control of not just your blood sugars, but your mind, body, & soul.  Let's journey together!

xoxo
